As chairman of his multifaceted company, Dan Adache believes that it takes versatility to carry out multifaceted visions, and it takes a wide variety of experience to accomplish versatility. Adache is an artist at heart. He minored in art at the University of Illinois when he received his degree in architecture in 1965, and has always stressed design and aesthetics as the basis of his architectural business philosophy. He has supplemented his architectural education with post graduate studies in Business Administration (from Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio), which has given him a management foundation for his architectural practice. Growing up in a family owned engineering firm (Adache Associates Engineers, Cleveland, Ohio), Adache apprenticed for eight years (including through college), in civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering departments which further broaden his knowledge to the design consulting and the construction industry.
Prior to starting his own design firm, he worked for and managed a hospitality interior design firm (James Frew & Associates in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida), where he gained a great deal of both hospitality and interior design experience and learned that there is a fine line between architecture and interior design. As a result, his architectural firm has always had an interior design component that has given additional dimension to architecture. Adache has always believed that building construction illustrates the ultimate testimony to architecture, and that the end result of architectural design is not only a nice looking building erected with ease, but both functional and profitable. He is a Florida State licensed general contractor and has built many of the projects that he has designed when he owned his own design/construction company (Construction Group Inc). This construction experience has proven invaluable to the production of efficient projects. As a real estate developer, Adache has often been referred to as the developer’s architect.
As a co founder and principal of both Colonial Development Group Inc., and Hospitality Development Group, Adache through his real estate development companies has developed nearly 4000 hospitality and condominium units. From this experience, he is able to further assist his developer clients to success beyond architecture. Having served his community and industry, Adache has been the president of the American Institute of Architects (Broward County Chapter), director of the Florida AIA, member of the American Arbitration Association, co-founder of the Ft. Lauderdale Community Appearance Board, member of the Ft Lauderdale Code Enforcement Board, member of the Broward County School Board Architecture Selection Committee, and Trustee of the Greater Ft. Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce. Dan Adache is more than just a local architect. Having lived abroad and practiced architecture abroad, he has developed strategic alliances with other architects in over 14 countries over the years. Adache has extensively traveled and worked with clients and architects all over the world including the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe and Asia. These cultural experiences have broadened his international knowledge where he has learned to not only adapt his American ingenuity to his projects abroad, but to bring a variety of knowledge to his domestic projects. Fifty years of entrepreneurial spirit, coupled with a broad variety and depth of experience in the construction industry has given Dan Adache the necessary ingredients to manage and maintain an award winning successful architectural firm.
